description

Molecular distillation is a specialized liquid-liquid separation device. Unlike conventional distillation, which relies on boiling point differentials for separation, this technology leverages variations in the mean free path of distinct substances. When a liquid mixture flows along the inner wall of the main evaporator and is heated, light and heavy molecules escape the liquid surface and enter the gas phase. Owing to their differing free paths, these molecules travel distinct distances after vaporization. As they pass the main evaporator’s built-in condensate pipe, light molecules reach the pipe and are collected, while heavy molecules fail to reach it and are discharged with the residual liquid, thereby achieving material separation.

Working Principle

Materials are transferred from the feed tank to the jacketed main evaporator, which is continuously heated. An integrated scraper uniformly spreads the material into a thin, flowing liquid film for instantaneous evaporation. Light-component materials vaporize and adhere to the built-in condensing coil, then flow into the receiving flask along the coil’s outer wall, while heavy-component materials flow down the main evaporator’s inner wall into their dedicated receiving flask.

Precautions for Operation

1. Pre-chill the cold trap by filling it with liquid nitrogen prior to operation

2. The equipment uses oil heating, which reaches high temperatures; avoid direct hand contact to prevent scalding

3. Operating temperature range: -80℃ to 250℃ (300℃ available via customization)

4. Verify that the cooling water valve is fully open before initiating operation
