This centrifugal-airflow dual-purpose spray dryer is engineered for drying solutions, suspensions and mud-like materials. Air is delivered by a blower to an air heater for preheating, then enters the drying tower where it contacts atomized mist droplets to facilitate drying. A portion of the dried product settles at the tower bottom for gas separation, while the remainder is drawn into a cyclone separator by an induced draft fan; exhaust gas is discharged post-separation.
Airflow atomizers operate by leveraging high-speed compressed airflow to split liquid films: since the feed liquid flow rate is extremely low, the significant velocity differential between high-speed annular gap-ejected compressed air and the liquid generates gas-liquid friction and shear forces. This instantly stretches the liquid into thin filaments, which rapidly break at their narrower sections to form fine mist droplets.
Centrifugal atomizers utilize the high-speed rotational force of a rotary atomizer to expel droplets, which are then dried by hot air into powders or granules. For experiments requiring powders, the airflow atomization system is recommended due to its long service life and high durability—an advantage over the centrifugal system, which is better suited when uniform powders or granules are the desired experimental outcome.
